The HTC One X has been available for several months, so it s not as expensive as some other phones. We found it for free on a two-year contract for as little as 21 per month. It hasn t been upgraded to Android 4.1 yet, but 4.0 runs very smoothly and HTC has added some useful extras.
The HTC One X has a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, more often seen in tablets, which pushed it to out-perform the Galaxy S3 in our Quadrant benchmark, with a score of 5,742. It came only eighth in our SunSpider test, though it very smoothly. It s a slim model, just 8.9mm thick, made from a single block of polycarbonate, which makes it more solid than the Galaxy S3. The screen is 4.7in across the diagonal, with a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels. It s the sixth-brightest of the phones tested here and has a good contrast ratio. HTC has boosted Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) with the latest version of its HTC Sense software, which adds an enhanced lock screen and several extras. The only major problem is it lacks a memory card slot, though with 32GB built-in, it should be a while before you run out of storage.
